Introducing Clair Jennifer…
Clair Jennifer is an entrepreneur.
At just 19 years old she created her childhood dream, Wombat. With second hand shop fittings, only $2,000 and armed with determination she grew the business into a national chain of 54 highly successful fashion retail stores. In 2004 as every entrepreneur dreams Clair sold the business and retired at 36 years old.
Wombat and Clair Jennifer have won in excess of fifty business awards recognising the outstanding success. Clair won the NSW Small Business Award 3 years in a row and took out the Young Australian of the Year in 1992. Wombat ranked in the top 25 Women owned businesses and in 2001 was ranked in BRW as the 42nd fastest growing company in Australia. In 2001 she was awarded Ernst & Young Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Clair was inducted into the Australian Business Women’s Hall of Fame and made BRW’s rich list in 2004.
During the course of business Clair took on time Warner International a multinational mogul to fight for the intellectual property rights for the Harry Potter trademark she used on the clothing in the Wombat stores, and won.
Today Clair is a mentor for aspiring young people, businesswomen and retailers who look to her for guidance and direction.
